Everson Mono's em width is 575 units. Non-spacing characters are  
handled like this: characters like COMBINING CIRCUMFLEX are to the  
*left* of the zero-width offset line, offset so that they should  
centre over the preceding 575-unit character. RTL characters like  
DAGESH are to the *right* of the zero-width offset line, offset so  
that they should centre over the preceding 575-unit character (assumed  
to be a RTL display).
